“Mamak is one of my favourite places to eat. I like everything about it.
The nasi lemak is so good I could eat it everyday – the rice is coconutty and the crunchy ikan bilis (anchovies) are like the best ever salty chips and I like the cucumber but I’m not so sure about the peanuts.
It tastes good with curry. I like all Mamak’s curries especially kari ayam (curry chicken) and my favourite, kari ikan (curry fish). My dad and I always argue over which one to get so we play paper, scissors, rock to decide. I won this time.
The kari ikan sauce makes my tongue tingle and the fish is so yum but I let mum eat the okra and eggplant cause they’re ewww…
We all love the roti canai, which is like bread but taller and is crunchy and soft at the same time. My little sister and I also really enjoyed trying the chicken satay on sticks today.
At the end of lunch mum always let us get a roti pisang (banana roti) and ice-cream to share. Sort of. We only let mum and dad have a bite each and then my sister and I eat the rest.”

January 8, 2014 at 2:17 pm (10 years ago)LOL Em he’s been pretty verbose since he was two but his food vocab is enormous! It’s all thinks about. These are his word but obviously I’ve been giving him a few tips on how to structure a story… I’m so glad he wants to do this as I think it’s awesome practice for him for school. 🙂

January 8, 2014 at 3:55 pm (10 years ago)What a great review Raffey, I love Manak too! We like lots of the same things. My favourite dishes are the roti canai and the chicken sate closely followed by the fish curry. One day, when I manage to leave enough room in my tummy I’m going to try the pandan and coconut roti for dessert. Maybe one day I’ll come along with your gang and we can try it together!

January 8, 2014 at 4:25 pm (10 years ago)That is a great review Raffy. I agree okra is ewww but eggplant is pretty good. I’m not sold on the fish curry (but mostly because I don’t much like fish) I think that I would prefer the kari ayam.
Maybe you, Sugarpuff, your mum, Millie and I can go to the Dutch shop in Wetherill Park in a couple of weeks and try some croquettes or Dutch pancakes? and then you can review that too.

January 8, 2014 at 6:24 pm (10 years ago)You all simply cannot go to the Dutch shop without me (and Leia too) … let’s do it before school goes back.
Thank you for the excellent review on Mamak – we’ll have to check out Mamak since it is so close to us (yet we’ve never been there) … I’m like Lisa and your mum, though; I love eggplant! I think I’d be getting another of those desserts just for me though! They sound delicious. Especially after curry or satay!

January 10, 2014 at 12:07 pm (10 years ago)Awesome. Millie finishes at childcare on 20 January (so only 1 week left for her) so any time that week works for us 🙂

January 10, 2014 at 11:59 am (10 years ago)Raffles, you have made me so hungry, you make all the dishes sounds
delish. And I would have to have the dessert too – not so sure about sharing though, Mup wouldn’t leave enough for me if we shared, Aunty Lou
