Raffles reviews: Field House Restaurant at Novotel Sydney Central

Duck in red curry sauce at Field House at Novotel Sydney Central

I love staying in hotels so, so much but sometimes hotel food can be boring. On the weekend we stayed at Novotel Sydney Central for a school holiday staycation and the food at their restaurant, Field House, wasn’t even a bit boring, it was scrumptious.

Actually, I liked everything about Novotel Sydney Central. When we arrived they had a yummy chocolate fountain with fruit and a play area where we could hang out while mum and dad checked in.

And our room? Oh. My. Gosh!

I loved it. Can you believe there was a cubby house in it with lots of cool toys inside..

My little sister and I had so much fun playing in it that I nearly didn’t want to go to dinner… until I remembered that I’m a greedy guts.

We had dinner at Field House with a bunch of mummy’s work friends and their kids. They were all so nice. I really liked them. The food at Field House was so, so, so, so good and I got to taste lots of different things.

There was an epic entrée with crispy squid salad and naam jim sauce which easspicy and sweet and really tasty. Oh, and buffalo mozzarella and great big piles of salami and prosciutto. I ate all the salami while the grown-ups were busy chatting… if you snooze, you lose!

There were also some veggie sticks and corn chips for the kids and my little sister, Sugarpuff, really liked them.

Great food at Novotel Sydney Central

For the main course, mum had delicious Atlantic salmon with risotto; I know it was good because I ate half of it. Dad had a (Cape Grim Grass Fed Angus) sirloin steak with special flavoured butter and truffle mash which was amazing. I know because I ate half of that as well.

I had the best dish of all. It was a duck leg with red curry sauce and lychees. The creamy sauce was full of amazing spicy flavours that made my mouth pop and the duck was DEL.IC.IOUS! Best of all I got to eat ALL of it! I love being me.

At dessert there were so many different things to try. There was a kids plate with jelly, a cookie and a super duper chocolate brownie and I stuffed them all in my face. I also got to try the grown-ups’ desserts. There was a cool lava cake that oozed chocolate and had yummy sorbet on top and a vanilla panacotta that was covered in berries which I shared with mum. They were all yummy.

I ate so much that mum’s friends thought I’d burst…9 but I was still hungry. Luckily they had a big tub of popcorn for us to eat in our room while we watched a movie.

I love this hotel and the restaurant so much I fell asleep dreaming about what I’d be having for breakfast.

Raffles, you are my favourite food reviewer. That duck sounds so good I’m going to have to eat some next time I go to the city.

That half a steak I got to eat was delicious. How come I didn’t get half of your duck curry…? You know duck curry is my favourite!
